Keep a food and exercise diary.

Keeping a food diary is the first step in learning about your eating habits. Start by keeping track of everything you eat and drink for a few days. Also note any exercise you do. You will want to continue your food and exercise diary to monitor your progress over time. Studies show that people who keep a food diary do better maintaining weight loss than people who don’t keep a food diary.
